Our Values

Women in Leadership

We are a woman-led company and support equal rights.

Respectful Production

We care who you work with. We understand that people on set make the production. We create a safe space for everyone because we care about you and us.

Expanded Opportunities

We focus on hiring people who are under-voiced and have less opportunities because of their background. Diversity creates value for our productions.

Good Work Takes Time

We work with you throughout all stages of your project. We take time to develop and carefully carry out the production and will stay with you until the completion.

Yuki Sakamoto Solomon (she/her): Founder

Yuki Solomon is a Chicago-based film producer and the founder of Coyote Sun Productions, a production company dedicated to socially engaged and cross-cultural storytelling. A former program director at NHK, she brings an international perspective to projects that explore identity, memory, and connection across borders.

Solomon has produced and collaborated on a range of narrative and documentary films between Japan and the United States. Her producing credits include the feature documentary MAYDAY (dir. MARIKO Tetsuya), which examined global experiences of isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic across 10 countries on five continents, and the Japan–U.S. co-production COYOTE, released theatrically in 2021. She is currently producing LIGHTNING OVER THE BEYOND, directed by HANNO Yoshihiro.

In addition to long-form projects, Solomon produced the short film Before Anyone Else (2023), which was nominated for the Grand Prize at the Midwest Film Festival. In 2024, she served as a juror for the live-action shorts competition at the Chicago International Film Festival. She was also recognized with a Chicago/Midwest Emmy® Award for Outstanding Achievement for Sports Promotion – Single Spot/Campaign for a promotional project produced in collaboration with the Chicago Cubs Productions team.

Committed to expanding the presence of Japanese independent cinema in North America, Solomon founded the Chicago Japan Film Collective (CJFC), the first Japanese film festival in the Midwest. Since its launch in 2021, CJFC has grown into a year-round platform for film exhibition, cultural exchange, and community dialogue.

Solomon lives in Chicago with her two sons and continues to work at the intersection of film, culture, and international collaboration.
